To Our Wonderful, Amazing Mother!

Mother’s Day only comes once a year. . . . and it’s a day where we get to celebrate our wonderful Mothers. But today we are going to celebrate one mother: Our mother.

Yes that’s right, our Mom, Belinda. CraftNov09 263

And yes that’s right again, this is Angela here, hacking into her blog to post about how much each of her kids love her! Because she is so incredibly amazing that she should be recognized, and we all love her so much and want her to know that.

My mom has always taught us the gospel of Jesus Christ through word and example. I remember nearly every morning my mom would wake us up for scripture study by sitting down at the piano and playing hymns and primary songs. We'd sing songs, say prayers, read scriptures and memorize poems. Just about everything she does is done in a fun and creative way. She has a way of capturing people's attention and bringing the spirit to the things she teaches. She has always taken every calling in the church very seriously. Even when she was called to be in the nursery, my mom magnified her calling and spent a lot of time in preparation to make it a fun learning experience for all of the little children. My mom has a way with people of every age and background from the little preschooler to the old man in the check-out stand at the grocery store. It is easy for people to feel a connection with my mom. She has a gift to be able to sense the moods or feelings of others and empathize with them. Because of this gift many people (even strangers) feel comfortable confiding in her. We sometimes tease her that in a 5 minute time frame she can know everything about a person except their name. This talent of hers has kept me in awe throughout my entire life. I have witnessed these exchanges on multiple occasions and still have not picked up on the subtle ways in which she can make people so comfortable around her. I don't even think she knows how she does it. My mom has sacrificed for her children throughout her life and has suffered a lot to bring all of us into the world. She is a remarkable woman and I love her.

Mom you are such an amazing person! You have always been (as some of your other kids have mentioned), a very service oriented person because you care about other people so deeply. You want everyone else to be satisfied and happy before you think of yourself. You have an aura of friendliness and happiness that draws everyone (and yes I mean everyone) to you. They sense that you sincerely care about them even though they are a stranger to you.

As a mother you have definitely used those qualities as a guiding force in the way you have mothered us. We each know that you care. You have been a shining example to me about caring for others and giving as Christ would give. You are really one of the most Christ-like people I know, and I am so incredibly lucky to have you as my mother. The Lord really blessed me with an incredible mother who on a daily basis teaches me through example of what a good mother should be like. I’m trying my best, but I want you to know how much I am looking up to you, and hope that one day I can be at least as half a great mom as you are! I love you so dearly and appreciate you being my friend!

Love, Angela

_MG_0042sc00dfa824 Dear Mother,
One of the things I absolutely love about you is your wonderful example of service. I'm kind of nervous because it's likely that someone else has talked about this same thing, but "in the mouth of two or more witnesses" will Mom's divine attribute of service be recognized and established. I was reading this morning about President Monson's life and how he was always known for anxiously serving others, and it really reminded me of you. For as long as I can remember, you've always set the great example of continually reaching out to help others. Whether it was making meals, giving rides, preparing lessons, writing letters, sending packages, providing visits, giving comfort, or loving unconditionally, you were so often there to do what the Savior would have don e. I will forever remember and appreciate your outstanding legacy of service. I am also confident that your influence will be felt for generations to come in a way that you don't even realize. I love you so much Mom! Thank you for everything! Love, SpencerIMG_0028

I have am so grateful to mom for all that she does in my life. I love her spunk and fun personality. Although we have had hard times in the past, I have always considered her to be my dear friend. She has been a great example to me in so many ways. She has taught me to strive to always become better in everything I do. She works so hard to take care of the kids, the house and I. I don't show my thanks enough. I am so grateful for her love and care. She is amazing! I love you mom. –Benson

This is what Joshua said to you, Mom:

And this is what Jacob said to you:

The funny part about Jacob’s interview is that I was asking some questions to start getting him to think about things he loved about you. So I asked him, “Is Mom funny?” Jacob replied, “Nope. She’s not funny.” I laughed, “Really?” He then said, “Well she is a little funny.”

Hope that made you smile! But I think he doesn’t realize how often you make him laugh!

And if that’s not proof enough of the awesome Mom you are and how much we love you, we’ll let the pictures speak for themselves to show how awesome you are!
