Kids say the darndest things

I organized a little neighborhood preschool this year.  It started with 3 little kids.  It has grown to 6.  Jacob is the only boy.  We all take turns teaching and then have a field trip once a month.  One of the days I taught we had a snow day based off the book "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats.  We collected snow and then watched it melt.  We then colored it with food coloring and put it in  squirt bottles and used it to color the snow with.  Spencer gave us rides on the sled around the yard
Jacob wants to marry Abby.  Just this last week I taught preschool.  Abby stayed after to play for awhile.  Abby said to Jacob:  Guess what? my dad is going to baptize me
Jacob:  Well guess what? my mom is going to baptize me (like he was trying to out do her)
Jacob was telling Abby how much he loved her.  Abby said, "Jacob you can't love me yet we're not married.
Earlier at preschool the kids were playing outside.  Taryn said to Jacob:  "Let's play house, you be the dad and I will be the mom".   Taryn then precedes to tell Jacob. "Don't call me Taryn, call me honey".  Jacob from then on calls out, "Honey, oh honey"
Jacob is certainly not lacking for female attention.  I think he rather enjoys being the only boy.

Listening to their conversations really cracks me up.  Teaching little children is really a lot of fun.  Spending time with younger children truly brings me joy.  Oh, to be as a little child

Birthday Girls

Today is the birthday of two very special women in my life.  My wonderful daughter Brittney LeAnn & my amazing mother-in-law Barbara Ann.  They are 52 years apart in age but their hearts are knit together as one.

I know that Heavenly Father let me go first in choosing a mother-in-law.  She is truly a gem in every way.  Without a doubt we picked each other in the pre-existence.  I want to write about her but I am leaving tomorrow to spend 11 days in Hawaii with her, Stan & Spencer (that will have to come at a later time).  So today I wish to focus on the other birthday girl.
This birthday is also shared with Grandpa Bassett (Barbara's Daddy).  Three generations born on this day.  This is a picture of Barbara & her Daddy (Pam & Dad also)
I wished that I had met him before he died.  I feel as if I already know him.  Stan believes that he is his guardian angel.
This is the story of a girl name Brittney
Who has lived so right for 23 whole years
And here is 23 reasons that "er" is special.
#1- She is a incredible moth"er".  To see her give birth to her first born daughter was such an incredible experience.
#2- She is my first-born daught"er".  Oh what joy filled my soul 23 years ago when I brought her into this world.

#3- She is a magnificent Danc"er".  She has always had perfect coordination and a natural ability to dance.  She danced for several years on the BYU Ballroom dance team as a youth.  They always seemed to get first place at the dancesport competitions held at BYU every year.

#4- She is a read"er".  After she got over a bad teacher in second grade who told her she couldn't read, she has always loved to read.  Joshua decided to join in the fun while she was reading one day.
#5- She is an act"or".  Brittney loved drama.  In high school she was in the drama club and got some high marks in the several different competitions.  Acting is her passion and love, besides her family of course.

#6 She is a hik"er".  Brittney has hiked to the top of Mount Timpanogos several times with her dad and others.  I actually made it up one of those times.  She has great stamina.
#7- She is a donat"er".  After growing her hair out for several years she decided to get her hair cut and donate it to the locks of love.

#8- She is a ski"er".  Brittney loves to ski and is good at it.  She is not afraid to try new things.  She is very adventurous.
#9- She is a rid"er".  Stan & I grew up with horses.  Ever since Brittney was a little girl we dreamed of having land with horses.  Every chance we got we tried to instill a love of horse-back riding in our children.
#10- She is a snow-mobil"er".  Two Christmas' ago Brother Jepperson took us snow-mobiling up to Daniel's Summitt.  We had a blast.  Wow! look at how flexible she is.
#11- She is a big sist"er".  Brittney has always set a good example for her brother's & sister to follow.  I know it is hard being the oldest but she has done a good job leading the way.

#12- She is a pione"er".  Our stake went on a pioneer trek several years ago.  What a great experience.  I really think Brittney could have been a real pioneer.  She would have fit right in except for the spiders.
She is definitely not like her mother when it comes to snakes.  I would have been screaming if this was me and certainly not smiling in a picture.
#13- She is a teas"er".  We went on a church history tour for her senior trip.  This is her messing with the bus driver who was of course acting dorky with his glasses & teeth.  Brittney does have a great sense of humor.
#14- She is a teach"er".  One family home evening her and Angela planned this lesson for the boys about one of the wars in the Book of Mormon.  Their visuals were great don't you think?
#15- She is a temple-go"er".  The temple has always been important to Brittney.  She has always made an effort to attend every week since she has been endowed.
#16- She is a schol"ar".  Brittney has always done well in school.  She worked hard to get good grades and was determined to finish her bachelors degree even when it was tough.  This is her at her high school graduation.  She graduated with honors.
#17- She is a fish"er".  Catching, gutting & cleaning a fish didn't seem to bother Brittney at girl's camp when all the other girls were freaking out.
#18- She is a grand & great-grand-daught"er".  This is Brittney with her grand-parents & great-grand-parents in Texas when she was a baby.  Grandma Brandon (Bassett) had a special place in her heart for Brittney.  She can't even look at the camera for a picture, her eyes are fixed on Brittney.
#19- She is a dog lov"er".  At least she used to be.  She has owned several dogs in her lifetime.  She had Strider, Sport, Sylvia, Cocoa, and that black dog (what was his name?).  This is Khemo. Grandpa & Grandma Craft's dog  & Brittney sitting in the RV.
#20- She is a do"er".  Like I said before Brittney is not afraid to try new things.  She is courageous, brave & strong.  When I did this I didn't look down.  This was a cake walk for her.
#21- She is a bowl"er".  Grandpa Craft tried to teach her how to bowl & play golf.  She is like Tiger Woods- AMAZING.  Her score in the bowling alley is a perfect 300.  Isn't her form incredible?
#22- She is a Catch"er".  She did a great job of catching her handsome prince charming.  See how she is practicing on this innocent little frog.
#23- She is a Lov"er".  I'm sure Randy feels extremely lucky to have such a catch.  She is a terrific wife to Randy and they are a match made in heaven.
Brittney Happy Birthday and know how much I love you and appreciate you choosing me to be your mother.
